Spring 2022 Events and Singing Days

John is looking forward to travelling around the UK and further afield to lead singing days and masterclasses, conduct concerts, and speak at conferences taking place in Spring 2022. Tickets for all upcoming events are available on the Events page on this website, and further outings will be announced over the coming months.

Sunday 20th March: Masterclass in Parma, Italy (SOLD OUT)

Work under the direction of John Rutter, on a number of his pieces in this whole-day masterclass in Parma, Italy. The masterclass will be divided into two parts: in the morning the participants will work alongside the Coro Aurora di Mirandola, while in the afternoon they will have the opportunity to sing together with the Coro Giovanile Regionale dell’Emilia Romagna.

Wednesday 23rd March: English Choral Music Conference & Concert in Verona, Italy

A lecture about the English choral music tradition, which has so much in common with the Italian one, but has developed its own particular course as a whole over the centuries, from Tallis and Byrd to the contemporary composers. The conference will take place as an informal chat with director, Matteo Valbusa, with Italian translation for the audience. There will be a short concert at the end of the conference, with pieces by Elgar, Stanford and Rutter.

Saturday 9th April: Singing Day in London, UK

Join John for a day of choral singing, where he will take you through a number of choral items in the wonderful acoustic and surroundings of the National Musicians’ Church – Holy Sepulchre, London. Proceeds from ticket sales will be put towards the restoration of the historic organ at Holy Sepulchre.

Saturday 7th May: Singing Day in Wells Cathedral, UK

The day is open to singers of all abilities and confidence levels. Some sight-singing ability will be beneficial, though the pace of the day will be relaxed and informal. We will be singing John Rutter’s Requiem and a selection of other pieces, old and new, including John’s own, much loved, choral works. Although Wells Cathedral is large, numbers are limited and we recommend you book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Saturday 21st May: Concert in Guildford Cathedral, UK

Join Guildford Cathedral Choir for their 60th Anniversary Concert. The programme includes The Gift of Life, conducted by John Rutter and sung by the Cathedral Choir. This will form the second half of the concert programme. The first half of the concert programme will be the Cathedral choir singing a specially commissioned piece for the Cathedral Choir by Philip Moore. Works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells are included and conducted by Katherine Dienes-Williams.
An Audience with John Rutter will precede the concert at 6.30pm (separate ticket).

Monday 30th May: Concert in Carnegie Hall, New York

John Rutter conducts his Requiem in a concert featuring the New England Symphonic Ensemble and a number of participating choruses.
