Cambridge Summer Music are delighted to announce details of their ever-popular Christmas Concert. This year, as well as festive carols and other seasonal gems, the concert will feature John’s much-loved musical fable Brother Heinrich’s Christmas. This delightful work tells the story of the 14th-century Dominican monk Heinrich Suso who, according to legend, notated the carol In dulci jubilo after it had been sung to him by a band of angels. Told with warmth and droll humour the piece features Sigismund – Brother Heinrich’s donkey, as well as a Christmas celebration at the monastery, and a hard-to-please abbot!
Join John and choir, together with television and radio presenter Katie Derham, who will narrate the piece, for what promises to be a very special occasion.
The concert takes place in the beautiful setting of Our Lady & the English Martyrs Catholic Church, Cambridge, and will include plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in and sing.
