Come and Sing with John Rutter

Sunday, 26 January 2025
14.00 - 17:30

John Rutter returns to the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, for a fifth year with his popular choral singing workshop.

Do you love singing? If you do, and can read a bit of music, this inspiring workshop is for you. Led for a fifth great year by the celebrated composer and conductor John Rutter, Come and Sing is an afternoon of choral singing to lift the spirits. Music will be a mixture of old and new, including some of John’s own well-loved choral works. If you’re not a singer yourself, come along as a supporter instead.

John has an exciting plan for this year’s event. He will be unveiling a new choral composition he has just completed called I’ll make me a world. It will be receiving its official concert premiere in St Paul’s Cathedral in November this year, but John has agreed to allow a pre-release workshop performance which we will be rehearsing during the afternoon, with the aim of a complete sing-through of this 20-minute work at the end of the afternoon, with two wonderful professional soloists, Melanie Marshall making a welcome return to Nottingham, and Jonathan Brown who has been permitted special leave if absence for the day from the choir of Westminster Abbey. Neil Taylor will be our accompanist, as in previous years.

Music scores will be provided on the day, and there will be tea/coffee and biscuits served in the interval, all part of the ticket price.

The proceeds from this concert will help to support refugees in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire through the work of Nottingham Refugee Forum.
