‘Stanford and Howells Remembered’ Out Now

Today is the release day for Stanford and Howells Remembered, a newly-remastered and extended 2-CD set of the Cambridge Singers’ 1992 recording. The original single CD of choral music by Charles Villiers Stanford and Herbert Howells, available here on the website for £9, has been expanded with almost 20 minutes of previously unreleased material.

John says: “This recording is a choral tribute to the sacred music of two visionary composers who, among their other achievements, made distinctive, lasting and much-cherished contributions to the musical repertory of the English Church. Much of the music heard on this recording was intended for use in church, in the context of the Anglican liturgy. As such, it is familiar and well-loved within Anglican circles but all too little-known elsewhere. It deserves to be more widely appreciated on its own considerable merits.”

Order the CD here, or from your favourite music retailer, or stream the album on your chosen digital platform.
