Rutter Magnificat

Rutter’s Magnificat for soprano, choir and orchestra uses the traditional Magnificat text, based on the Virgin Mary’s prayer on learning she would give birth to Christ and extended with Marian prayers and poems chosen by the composer, to create a work reminiscent of outdoor processions in honour of the Virgin.

Mass of the Children

Mass of the Children was written to bring children’s and adults’ choirs together, in the way that performing in Britten’s War Requiem did for the young John Rutter as a school chorister.
