An unusual and dramatic anthem for SATB choir (with divisions) unaccompanied
The English verses, starting ‘O sing unto the Lord a new song’, are framed by the Latin first line ‘Cantate Domino canticum novum‘. The words and plainsong melody of the Veni Creator Spiritus make an unexpected and effective entry towards the end of the anthem. It is also included in Rutter’s Psalmfest.
This version makes one of John Rutter’s most beloved carols accessible to unison choirs. Pont’s arrangement is a shortened version with a simplified piano accompaniment.
Also available in versions for SATB and upper voices by John Rutter.
