Visions and Rutter Requiem
John Rutter’s Visions is a four-movement showpiece for solo violin, string orchestra, harp and choir of treble voices, based on the theme of Jerusalem, the Holy City of prophetic imaginations. Alongside it, the Cambridge Singers take advantage of 30 years of technology advancement and revisit his immensely popular Requiem.
Rutter Magnificat
Rutter’s Magnificat for soprano, choir and orchestra uses the traditional Magnificat text, based on the Virgin Mary’s prayer on learning she would give birth to Christ and extended with Marian prayers and poems chosen by the composer, to create a work reminiscent of outdoor processions in honour of the Virgin.
I Sing of a Maiden
John Rutter has written and recorded five new Christmas carols, out now as a digital-only release. The five new carols recorded by The Cambridge Singers and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by John, are: Es ist ein’ Ros’ entsprungen, I sing of a maiden, Joseph’s Carol, Christ our Emmanuel, and Suzi’s Carol.
